Terms & Conditions

• Any quotation is based upon the email and telephone records held, and measurements that may have been supplied by yourselves or scaled from a plan without definite measurements.
• Supply the materials for the scaffolding, the transport of those materials and then erect the scaffolding.
• Erect (number of lifts will be stated) lifts of scaffolding around the whole building perimeter as determined on the plans. X1 lift of boards lifted progressively with the build.
• Please note the below items are additional / if required- and not included in the above quotation:
• Extra lifts of boards will be chargeable per lift if required. (please ask for quote if required)
• Loading Bay/s if required charged at £450.00. item
• No adaptions for render and no table lifts allowed for unless specified in the quotation.
• The above quote allows for 8 weeks hire, any days thereafter a 9% of the contract sum will be charged as an additional weekly hire rate regardless of any scaffold being removed or if you should finish before that time.
• There is a credit limit on all accounts of £3,000.00 unless agreed otherwise, if you are over this, we will not be able to take any more work on until settlement is cleared.
• *New Clients ­ We require a 50% deposit for new customers before erecting scaffolding and then the rest of the payment is due within 14 days after scaffold is erected. Please note that failure to make payment will incur late payment interest. Interest will be charged @10% per month on any outstanding balances.
• *Existing Clients ­ Payment Terms are 14 days after erection of scaffolding unless specified otherwise. Please note that failure to make payment could incur late payment interest chargeable @10% per month on any outstanding balances.
• On receipt of a confirmation email sent to info@ss1scaffolding.co.uk we will return to site to dismantle and clear the scaffolding in 1 Nr visit.
• Scaffolding inspections are every 7 days to comply with working at height regulations 2005. These are not factored into this quotation, should you wish for us to do this they are £150.00 + VAT per inspection after every 7 days or adverse weather.
• Our quotation is based on normal working hours as being from Monday to Friday, between 08.00am to 4.00pm.
• Please Note: Larger scale projects will need a programme of works to be agreed before scaffolding is erected.
• Unless agreed otherwise there will only be a percentage of plots up at any one time.
• The client will be responsible for providing a solid level base for SS1 Scaffolding Ltd structure to be erected from. All shrubs to be cut down/moved or considered rubbish before works commence, no liability will ever be accepted without prior written approval for any claims against landscaping or vegetation loss or damage claims.
• Our offer shall remain open for a minimum period of 3 months from Submission.
• All scaffold to be tied to building or window ties, to comply with health and safety. ON NO ACCOUNT. TIES MUST NOT BE REMOVED.
• Should there be any discrepancies within the quote please contact the office immediately.

1 Issues Arising from Scaffolding Works

1.1 You (the client) are responsible for the making good / repair of any damage caused by the erection, alteration and / or dismantling of scaffolds on existing roofs.

1.2 Scaffolds will be tied to the structure with ‘through ties’ as required by the relevant Regulations and Codes of Practice. You are responsible for obtaining permission to use such ties. You are also responsible for ensuring the necessary openings are provided and for weatherproofing the building after the ties have been fixed. Making good of any damage caused using ‘through ties will be your responsibility and at your cost.

1.3 You are responsible for ensuring that the fabric of the building is suitable and strong enough to withstand the loads imposed using drop-in expanding anchors.

1.4 You are responsible for making good any damage caused to the fabric of the building by using drop-in anchors.

1.5 You are responsible for making good any damage to the fabric of the building, however caused, during the erection, alteration or dismantling of scaffolds.

2 Foundations

2.1 You are responsible for the provision of a suitably constructed firm and level foundation on which the scaffold is to be built. The foundation must be capable of supporting the dead and live loads imposed by the scaffold together with any loads imposed during its use. Your foundations must extend 300mm beyond the line of the standards.

2.2 You must ensure that the base of the scaffold is clear of all debris prior to the dismantling of the scaffold and ensure that the foot of each standard is exposed to enable recovery of base and sole plates. Any base and sole plates not recovered will be charged as an additional item.

3 Pavement Licences and / or Permission to Erect Scaffolds (customer responsibility)

3.1 You are responsible for obtaining any third-party permission to enable the scaffolding structures to be erected either on the site or on adjacent property. Third party permission includes, but is not limited to, the application for, and obtaining of, pavement licences in accordance with section 169 of the Highways Act 1980. Copies of written third party permission /licences must be provided to us before work is commenced.

• We can help provide pavement licences, for a small administration fee as well as the initial application costs.

3.2 We reserve the right to review and amend this quotation if third party permissions / licences impose additional conditions and / or obligations.

4 Financial Issues

4.1 The contract hire/s period(s) for each of the items included in this quotation represent the minimum periods of hire to be paid by you. Allowance will not be made for periods of hire less than the minimum periods or for periods when the scaffold is not in use for whatever reason. For the avoidance of doubt allowance will not be made for holidays.

4.2 Allowances will not be made to the period of hire, whether contract hire periods or periods of extra hire, for holidays or any period when scaffolds are not in use.

4.3 Work carried out on a day work basis is not subject to discount.

4.4 Our quotation is based on the work being carried out during normal working hours. The cost of carrying out work during periods other than normal working hours will be charged as an extra to the contract.

4.5 Our quotation excludes the cost of preparing engineering drawings and calculations which will be charged as an extra to the contract.

4.6 Our quotation is based on statutory regulations and work practices current at the date of this quotation. Any changes to statutory regulations and work practices giving rise to additional costs will be charged as an extra to the contract.

4.7 You are responsible for the safe keeping and security of all scaffolding equipment delivered to site until finally removed by us. Any material not returned to us, for whatever reason will be charged for at its replacement value.

5 Payment

5.1 Payment is to be received within thirty days of the invoice date.

5.2 We reserve the right to charge interest on overdue accounts at 10% per month on any outstanding balances.

1. As scaffolding is a hire contract the Contractors Plant Hire Model Terms and Conditions for the hiring of plant and equipment will apply.
2. Scaffolding is deemed to be a temporary item of work and is not subject to maintenance period retention deduction.
3. Our quotation is based upon information supplied by you and should be checked to ensure your requirements have been met.
4. Our quotation is based upon a fixed rate with dimensions and hire periods being subject to remeasure.
5. Our quotation is based upon carrying out all works with a normal working week period, i.e. Monday to Friday between the hours of 8.00 am and 4.00 pm and Saturday between the hours of 8.00 am and 1.00 pm.
6. Our quotation does not allow for working over statutory holidays and materials remain on hire during these periods.
7. Whilst we take every possible care, we cannot be held responsible for damage caused to the building fabric or foundation through our operations, including the positioning of drilled in anchors used for tying in our scaffolds.
8. Hire commences on handover certification of the first erection of the scaffolding and ceases upon your instruction to dismantle the scaffolding.
9. Other than the standard designs we hold for loading bays, design drawings and calculations have not been allowed for within our quotation unless specified. Where these are required, they are subject to additional charge.
10. Adaptions are excluded unless specified.
11. We require suitable access for our delivery vehicles to deliver and collect materials to within 10 meters of our working area. The carrying of materials over distances exceeding 10m is subject to additional charge. To comply with the manual handling regulations, we will require, where available, mechanical assistance to unload, distribute and re-load our materials without subject to contra charge unless agreed with us prior to commencing our works.
12. None of our materials are fire retardant, unless specifically stated in our quotation.
13. Lightning conductors and scaffold alarms have not been allowed for within our quotation unless specified.
14. Our quotation is based upon current regulations, legislation and codes of practice. Should these or any working practices change, any resulting additional works are chargeable.
15. The hire periods stated in our quotation are the minimum length and are not subject to refund without prior agreement from us.
16. We are not responsible for the bearing capacity of the surfaces we found our scaffolds from. It is your responsibility to check that all surfaces are capable of carrying the imposed loads.
17. The hirer is to ensure that level and firm bases are provides for our scaffolds. We will provide the regulation 450mm x 225mm x 38mm timber sole pads. Larger sole pads are subject to additional charge.
18. No additional items are to be added to any scaffold without our specific permission beforehand.
19. We reserve the right to charge interest at our banks unauthorized overdraft rate on all overdue accounts / valuations.
20. Our payment terms are strictly 30 days from date of invoice / valuation.
21. You are responsible for the statutory inspections of the scaffolds as required by the Working at Height Regulations 2005 (as amended).
22. Minor alterations are charged at our day work rate of £32.50 per hour per man plus materials used pro rata to hire rates detailed in our quotation.
23. No alterations are to be carried out by the client/main contractor/scaffold user without prior express permission in writing from Earls Scaffolding Ltd.
24. For insurance reasons SS1 Scaffolding Ltd will not provide rope with any Ginny Wheel erected with the scaffold unless this is pre agreed. Any rope provided will be brand new as per guidelines.
